Children learn the love of reading from those around them. A number of research projects have proven over and over again that children get ready to read years before they begin formal education. The most effective way to get your child ready to learn is to read to them.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a great program provided by the Larsen-Sant Library that helps to promote early reading with children. When you sign up, you will get your first 1–100 page. As you read to your child, remember to put the title of the book you read to them on the list to keep track of their progress. Once the paper is full, you can bring it back to the library. Your child will be rewarded each time with 1 milestone sticker and 1 book.
You will also see your child's progress on the wall in the playroom of our children's section.
Keep reading and see if you can finish the challenge and graduate from 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.
